Habtamu Alem is a research scientist in the Department of Economics and Society at the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO), Norway. His research areas are food and nutrition security; environmental and production economics; climate change impact assessment; econometrics; circular economics; cost-benefit analysis; consumer economics; risk analysis; and topics related to development economics.

Habtamu Alem is mainly involved in WP1- Resource use, current knowledge, and future trends, in task 1.3 -Climate change impacts on social and economic inputs use. The task focuses on measuring the performance of farmers in resource use accounting for the environmental change. He is coordinating the SYSTEMIC project (WP0) and involved also in WP6 (dissemination).
